7 Books To Read in Your First Year of Real Estate

If you have ever wondered what you should anticipate during your first year as a new real estate agent, here are 7 books that will help you get to the next level in your career.

  1. The One Thing by Gary Keller

This is a great starter book for any new thing you are trying to get in to, even if it's not real estate. The premise of the book is when you have a lot of things going on, what is the one thing that you can do today that will make everything else you need to do less important. It gets into time blocking, the power of leverage, and other helpful ideas.

  1. Starts With Why by Simon Sinek

Prior to investing in this book, go on YouTube and look up Simon Sinek's video, Golden Circle. Both the video and this book help you discover why you do the things you do.

  1. The Millionaire Real Estate Agent by Gary Keller, Dave Jenks, and Jay Papasan

It starts out by telling you what is important when starting out in real estate, then builds all the way up until you have established a real estate team, or whatever your goal is to build up your business enough to step away and still have residual income.

  1. The Seven Levels of Communication by Michael J. Maher

This book explains how to build your entire business off of referrals. The concept of this book is great. Real Estate Agents all want to get to a point in which people are calling them and they are not having to make cold calls to generate business, and this book teaches you how to get there.

  1. Crush it! and Jab, Jab, Jab, Right Hook by Gary Vaynerchuk

These are two separate books. Crush It! goes through what it takes to start a start up business through Gary's own story which is really inspiring. Jab, Jab, Jab, Right Hook focuses on your social media presence which is huge these days. This book helps build your brand so that everyone will know who you are and what you do.

  1. Convince Them in 90 Seconds or Less by Nicholas Boothman

This is great for new agents who are going out there to talk to people, but just don't know what to say or how to present yourself. One example is Nicholas went out and about in New York City to unfamiliar and uninviting places, in a nice suit and bright red shoes, and was still able to get people to like him. He teaches you how to make crucial first introductions and ask the appropriate questions to land an appointment.

  1. The Like Switch by Jack Schafer

Jack Schafer used to be an FBI Investigator and his main job was counterintelligence, so he had to make friends with the enemy. This book shows you what you have to do to stay in front of people and be relevant. The goal is for people to subconsciously say "Hey, I like this person."
