Why Do People Want to Move to Niceville FL
Why Do People Want to Move to Niceville FL
There are actually so many reasons why people moved to Niceville. But today, I'm just going to talk about the 5 most common reasons why people do want to move here, so don't you go anywhere.
Alright, so why do people move to Niceville, Florida?
1. HIGHLY DESIRED NEIGHBORHOOD
There are a lot of highly desired neighborhoods in Niceville. So, just to name a few, the most well-known neighborhood in Niceville would be Bluewater Bay. Very beautiful area, very big, lots of amenities. Now the average sales price for home in Bluewater Bay in the last six months, six months going back from February 2023. It's for a 3-bedroom, 2-bathroom home was $462,000. Not so bad, I know it was a little higher than it was a couple years ago. But you know, a lot of people know what the market is like these days, prices are a little bit higher. But, it's still kind of getting there, stabilizing. Now there's also Magnolia Plantation. Prices for homes in this neighborhood is a little bit higher for a 3-2, the average sales price $638,000. There's also Swift Creek. This is one of my favorite neighborhoods. My eyes light up every time I drive through here. The average sales price for home in Swift Creek for a 4-bedroom, 3-bathroom home is $817,000. I'm sure that price tag will make your eyes light up too. There's also Rocky Bayou a well-established neighborhood. For a 4-bedroom, 2-bathroom home, the average sales price would be $618,000. Now, there's also Deer Moss Creek, lots of newer homes being built up here. For a 3-bedroom, 3-bathroom home, the average sales price is $782,000. So, yeah, that's pretty pricey too. But again, it's a very, very nice neighborhood, very highly desired. But there are lots of other neighborhoods around Niceville. So, if you want to know more about what's available for, you know, at a lower price point, we can definitely give you that information. But again, I just wanted to talk about the 5 most well-known neighborhoods in Niceville.
2. FAMILY FRIENDLY
So, the second reason why a lot of people moved to Niceville, is that it is very family friendly. There's a children's park that includes a playground, a climbing structure, and there's a spray park for those hot summer days. So, it feels good to cool the kids off with a little or sprinkling down on them. There's also Turkey Creek Nature Trail. There's a long board walk about a mile long one way. But if you don't want to go for a walk and you want to actually kind of get in the water, enjoy the water a little bit, you can go kayaking, or canoeing. I actually just recently read a Facebook post how someone saw gator. A couple gators actually in at Turkey Creek, two different posts, so two different people saw a gator. I don't know if it's the same one. So just beware, yeah, you'll see a gator too out there in Turkey Creek. But it's not like they're actually, you know, they're out to get you, out there chasing you, where you have to look over your shoulder, or anything like that. So, nothing too dramatic. Again, it just happened to catch my attention that I did see a post recently that someone got the attention of a gator out there. But no one was hurt. Again, they were just enjoying a little stroll and happened to see it out in the water. There's also a Dog Park out in Niceville too. This is a huge one too. It's a little over four acres in size. They do have a hose where you can refill your dog's water bowls. There are fenced areas that separate the large dogs from the smaller dogs. Which always does make, it makes sense to me, especially as an owner of two different sized dogs myself. I do have a large German shepherd puppy and a 15-year-old little 8-pound Maltipoo. So, of course, the energy level of my large pup is a bit much for my older smaller dog. So, playing is just not really you know, a good idea because he'll trample him thinking that he's playing, not cool. So, it's definitely better to have him play with dogs their own or his own size. So, I do like to see dog parks that do have that separate space for the larger dogs and the small dogs. So, the Niceville dog park does have that.
3. COLLEGE CAMPUS
Now, there's also the third reason that people want to move to Niceville is that there is college campus there. It's Northwest Florida State College. You can enroll in associate or bachelor degree programs. They offer health science programs, business, computers, engineering, education majors such as early childhood or elementary education, and so much more. And there's also, you know, a lot of people these days, especially after COVID do online schooling, really actually even before COVID. A lot of people prefer to do their continuing education online. It's, you know, more convenient for a lot of people because college isn't just for kids straight out of high school. There's a lot of grown adults that need to, you know, further their education and earn a degree whether it fits in their 20's or just even later on in life. When they figure it out later what they want to do and go ahead and obtain a degree. That's the great thing about Northwest Florida State College. I mean, they do have many options for whatever that you might be interested in. So, make sure you check that out. It's a really great campus. They also do have a campus in Fort Walton Beach as well.
4. SHORT COMMUTE TO EGLIN AIR FORCE BASE & DUKE FIELD
The fourth reason why people moved to Niceville is that, it is a short commute to Eglin Air Force Base and Duke Field as well. Now, this is great for active-duty service members or civil service workers or even retirees that want to continue using their base privileges. I know, I myself like to shop at the commissary on base and go to the exchange every now and then too. So, that's great to be able to have plus access to that. Again, a lot of retirees like to be close. We do have a lot of people that want to relocate here to Florida and want to make sure that they do have access to a base close by, you know, a lot of people not familiar with the area. So, I do let them know we do have Eglin and Hurlburt Field, available close and close proximity to Niceville, Florida. So, it's a really great location, especially for our military families.
5. CLOSE TO LOCAL BEACHES
The fifth and best reason why people want to move to Niceville is that it is close to the local beaches. Without you really having to live in the mix of all the tourists that come to the area. So, if you're living in Niceville, you can still get to the beach within about 30 minutes or so. Of course, I always say give or take depending on the time of day and the time of year. Peak season around here is March through September, somewhere after Labor Day. So, traffic kind of picks up during the time. But I would still say, an average to get to the beach would be 30, maybe up to 45 minutes. And then there's actually two different routes you can take to get to a beach from Niceville. If you want to take the Mid-Bay Bridge, maybe if you're that side of Niceville to get to Destin or Miramar Beach. The Mid-Bay Bridge, it's a toll bridge that will just take you on into Destin. Or you can go through Fort Walton Beach and head out to Okaloosa Island, or you can still go on out to Destin, you're taking that route as well. So again, you're right there in a location to where you can get to the beach either way, either direction. Or, if you need to get up to the interstate, you can head up 85 through Crestview boom or take 285 out of Niceville and get to Interstate-10 for those that travel a lot.
And another bonus is that airport is located right outside of Niceville. So, it's really, you know, if you travel by the airplane a lot, you're right there by the airport. But that's another point to bring to your attention too regarding the Niceville and Valparaiso area is that you're going to hear a lot of the air traffic up above. Because, you know, you are right next to the air force base and the local airport. So, be mindful of that. If you are sensitive to noise, then maybe Niceville might not be ideal. But, if you don't mind at all, people say it's the sound of freedom hearing the military aircraft. And of course, you're going to have certain days where there you're going to hear more noise than others through to the military training. But if you can handle that, you're all good.
Well, again, those are just the 5 reasons I wanted to bring your attention to why people moved to Niceville, Florida. If you have any more questions or want to know more about the area, please feel free to call/text us at 850.320.7757 or email us at Admin@WhittemoreGroupRE.com
