Are you looking to relocate your family to Florida or maybe you're even considering starting a family here? Well, I have a list of the top five suburbs to raise a family in Florida. You don't want to miss out just in case one of these areas is just perfect for you depending on the city that you're choosing to move to.
TOP 5 SUBURBS IN FLORIDA TO RAISE A FAMILY
1. TIGER POINT, GULF BREEZE
Well, first, let's talk about Tiger Point in Gulf Breeze right here on the Emerald Coast. Now this is a great place to raise a family, especially if you have kids in different age groups because the elementary school, middle school, and high school are all located in close proximity to each other, really right across the street from each other in Gulf Breeze. So, it's very convenient for families with multiple children in different schools. It's also located close to Pensacola right over the bridge. That's your near downtown Pensacola where you have plenty of restaurants, museums and festivals throughout the year. You're also close to Pensacola Beach and Navarre Beach. You can even travel down further and head out to Destin if you want to do some additional shopping or just enjoy different area of the beautiful beaches out here. The median home value in a Tiger Point is $333,000. The national average is about $377,000. So, it's affordable just below the national average. Of course, there's a lot of higher price point homes that are closer to the water. If you look on it on the map, you'll see how Gulf Breeze is located, kind of on peninsula right before you head into to Pensacola. So, if you are interested in Waterfront properties and they expect that price point to be a little bit higher. But for the most part, Tiger Point is very affordable. Again, a great place to raise children. Alright.
2. PALMETTO BAY, MIAMI
There's Palmetto Bay just outside of Miami, Florida. According to the residents here, this area is peaceful, calm and quiet. The neighbors are super friendly. There's lots of parks. Kids can ride their bikes and scooters or roller skates, and parents can even take their children to school in their golf carts. So, I can imagine trick or treating during a Halloween would be pretty amazing too with all the family neighbors and being able to conveniently ride the golf carts around instead of trailing your kids in your own vehicle or just walking on foot throughout such a beautiful big neighborhood. It's also 10 - 15 minutes away from restaurants and other shopping areas. The median home value in Palmetto Bay is $562,000. So, it is above the national average, but it may be worth it depending on what is that you're looking for. But Palmetto Bay is just, they say it's very quiet because a lot of people, of course, when they think of Miami, they think of a lot of excitement, a lot of activities going on. But of course, if you're in the suburbs, it's a very nice peaceful quiet place to raise a family.
3. LAKE MARY, ORLANDO
You have Lake Mary just outside of Orlando, Florida. They also have rated A schools and it's also half an hour away from the famous theme parks that we all love such as Universal Studios and Disney World. But, this is located in a safe and quiet area. There's a nearby farmer's market, biking trails, and restaurants. There's also a Target and a Publix nearby, which seems to be a necessity for a lot of us floridians. A lot of us do love to shop at Publix and Target. The median home value in Lake Mary outside of Orlando is $320,000. So, it's a little bit below the national average. But of course, depending on, you know, your size of your home, which you have included with it, the upgrades, swimming poles, it'll be at a at a higher price point. But the median for Lake Mary is $320,000. The neighbors seem to love it just because of their friendly neighbors and how it's peaceful and quiet and they feel comfortable with their kids going out to play.
4. WESTCHASE, TAMPA
There's Westchase just outside of Tampa, Florida. They also have rated A schools. It's also a quiet and safe neighborhood, well developed. The homes are very well maintained. There's a community pool, but many of the homes already have their own private pools. Of course, it just depends on whether you want to maintain your own pool or just go out and enjoy the community pool and you won't have to worry about the maintenance of it. There's also golf course, tennis courts and small parks. There's also walking trails for those of you like to go for walks or a jog or just maybe take your pets out first stroll as well. There's easy access to restaurants, bars, the the gym, airport, and of course, the beaches. The median home value in Westchase is $359,000. So, it is just below the national average. But definitely check out Westchase if you are looking to move into the Tampa area.
5. FLEMING ISLAND, JACKSONVILLE
We have Fleming Island. It's a suburb of Jacksonville, Florida. So, they also have rated A schools, rated A housing, the scenery in this neighborhood is beautiful. There are people that live here that say that it's just a beautiful scenery with all the trees and the flowers that are well maintained in the neighborhood. There's always people walking or jogging with their dogs or pushing strollers. It's also golf cart friendly as well. There are four community pools in Fleming Island neighborhood. So, there's also three golf courses and there's tons of restaurants in stores nearby. Many of the residents that live in Fleming Island are commuters to Jacksonville, which takes about an hour during the rush hour to travel to. Fleming Island is also close to Saint Augustine, if you want to take a trip out there as well. The median home value in Fleming Island is $269,000. Actually, that may have changed a little bit, so it's probably a little bit up, but it is up below the national average. So, for those of you that are interested in a Jacksonville area but don't particularly want to stay near the downtown area, the Fleming Island is definitely a great option for you and it's actually located in that St. John's County.
