5. Surf Dweller Condominiums 

Surf Dweller Condominiums is located at 554 Coral Court in Fort Walton beach. This complex is located directly on the beach, so you can wake up to beautiful sunrises and fall asleep to gorgeous sunsets. Surf Dweller is known for its larger unit sizes with sizes ranging from 1,400 sq/ft to 1,900 sq/ft. Although, this is one of the older buildings on our list. The building was erected in 1985, but the units have been modernized and remodeled since then. This condominium has all the amenities you would expect, plus some. They have lighted tennis courts and pools dotted around the property so your walk to the pool isn't too far. A big plus for this complex is its proximity to the restaurants and bars that Fort Walton Beach has to offer. 

This property is a popular investors choice simply because the size of the units is desirable and it can fit a larger number of residents. 

4. The Island Princess

The Island Princess is located on 520 Santa Rosa Boulevard in Fort Walton Beach. The Island Princess was built in 1999, but feels much newer than that. The facility, in general, is fairly modernized and offers covered parking for guests and tenants, which is not a very common feature for many places on Okaloosa Island. The units themselves have been remodeled since its construction and are now fitted with granite countertops and stainless steel appliances. The island Princess also boasts a number of heated pools and hot tubs that face the Gulf, which offer incredible views to residents.  

3. El Matador

El Matador is located at 909 Santa Rosa Boulevard in Fort Walton Beach. El Matador is the oldest construction on our list as it was built in 1972. El Matador has survived all the hurricanes that have passed through the area since then and is still standing, which is a testament to its designers and builders! There are a total of six buildings on this property with two that have the beachfront Gulf view. Just like the other condominiums , El Matador has a few large pools that are adjacent to the beach and look out over the Gulf. They also boast a spa and few conference rooms for events and gatherings. One of the best features of El Matador is that it is secluded from the rest. There can be no construction beyond El Matador which means the beach and area is very much quiet and peaceful. 

The only real shortfall of El Matador is not all the units have been modernized to todays standard. Most, if not all, have been remodeled since its construction, but some could be considered dated. The size of the units vary based on number of bedrooms, although your average one bedroom will be 935 sq/ft and your two bedroom condo will ab approximately 1,100 sq/ft. 

2. Waterscape

Waterscape is located at 1110 Santa Rosa Boulevard in Fort Walton Beach. Waterscape is a relatively new facility only being built in 2008. If you couldn't tell by its name, Waterscapes' overall theme is a water oasis. It has multi-level pools, a lazy river, and several pool based activities for kids. Fortunately, the pools weren't all designed for kids. Waterscape has plenty of space for adults to relax and enjoy themselves as their kids play in the water. They have pavilions with lounge chairs and barbecues that families or friends can hang out at to relax the day away. For guests and residents, there are fitness rooms that look out onto the pool, gaming rooms, and club rooms that can be used at any time. 

As for the state of the units, since the building is relatively new, the units are also upgraded to that standard. Units will have granite countertops and stainless steel appliances. Sizes of the units vary depending on the number of bedrooms also. The one bedroom condo is 864 sq/ft while the 3 bedroom condo is 1,519 sq/ft. 

1. Destin West

Contrary to its name, Destin West is located in Fort Walton Beach at 1515 Miracle Strip Parkway (Gulf Side) and 1517 Miracle Strip Parkway (Bay Side). However, its name is correct in that it is, in fact, west of Destin. If you have ever driven through Fort Walton Beach and have seen a pedestrian bridge pass over highway 98, connecting two buildings, that is Destin West. Tim chose Destin West as the number one because it is right in the middle of everything you want to do. You can walk out of your condo and be surrounded by restaurants, bars, and the nightlife. 

Just like the other condominiums, Destin West has several pools on its properties. One in particular, is a large pool that faces the Gulf that leads to the private beach access. One unique feature of Destin West's Bay Side Condominium is the lazy river. Their lazy river is surprisingly large that, as you float around, offers stunning views of the Bay. It also offers residents and guests access to its conference centers and fitness centers. 

Destin West was constructed in 2002, but the units are all up to modern standards now. The units sizes start off at 954 sq/ft and go all the way up to 1,776 sq/ft.
