Things to Do in Ft Walton Beach
Are you new to the Fort Walton Beach area or maybe you're getting ready to relocate here or you're getting ready to pay a visit? And, you understand that Fort Walton Beach isn't a huge, huge town. So, you might be wondering, what is there to do? Well, in this video, I'm going to give you a list of a few awesome things for you and your family and friends to enjoy while you're in the Fort Walton Beach area. So, stay tuned.
THINGS TO DO IN FORT WALTON BEACH:
1. PONTOON RENTALS AND WATERSPORTS
Well, there are some places where you can rent out pontoons and other awesome water sport activities. There's Power Up Watersports, Crab Island Watersports, there's Destiny Water Adventures. So many more options for you to choose from to make sure that you are able to book the excursion that you want. There's dolphin tours, there's sunset cruises, jet skis you can rent out, pontoons for you know, like a large group of people or maybe not too large. 10-12 people for you to be able to go out and hang out in Crab Island. Or just in view, take a cruise around the beautiful Fort Walton Beach area.
2. THE BOARDWALK & GULFARIUM
But there's lots of things that you can do where you don't necessarily have to run out. You can definitely just hit up the Boardwalk is another place. Go to the Boardwalk on Okaloosa Island, and next door is also the Gulfarium, so you can kind of get a two for one there. So, at the Boardwalk, you can enjoy restaurants, there's ice cream shops, gift shops, retail stores, and there's a little playground out on the beautiful white sand. And then again, next door at the Gulfarium, you can see dolphins, stingrays, reptiles, sea lions, and much, much more. They're also in the process of building a dolphin oasis. So, that is currently under construction as of right now, it's September 2022. That's expected to be completed by the spring of 2023, I believe. Obviously, that's a pretty cool addition to the Gulfarium there on the Okaloosa Island. Can't wait to check it when they are finished.
3. WILD WILLY'S ADVENTURE ZONE
Another thing to do while you're in Fort Walton Beach is visit Wild Willy's Adventure Zone. It's a great place for kids, but adults have fun there too. It's also nice little place to go for a date night because they do have miniature golf. I like to enjoy miniature golf too. It's not like I'm a pro at it, but it's a little fun little outing to do with a significant other or just some friends. There's Arcade, Laser Tag, there's a tree top rope challenge. And the cool thing about that is when you're at the top, you can catch an awesome view of the beach over there across from the Boardwalk. You can just test your skills with climbing, your agility skills, balance, you know, just really test out being up there if you are not afraid of heights. And again, it's a great place for kids to go because you can have more birthday parties too. The go-karts, bumper carts, and there's also, again, miniature golf that kids can enjoy too. So, that's Wild Willy's Adventure Zone. It's a great place for families and even adults, I can have a great time there too.
4. BAR-HOPPING DOWNTOWN
Another thing to do in Fort Walton Beach that can be lots of fun is go bar hopping downtown. Now, when I say downtown, I don't mean like it's going to be anywhere like New York City or maybe Nashville, but a small cute little point area just before you get to Okaloosa Island, right before the bridge. It's a little strip of bars and little restaurants you can hang out at. There's tattoo parlors if you want to go ahead and add to your collection, if you have a lot of tattoos. There's also the Fort Walton Beach Landing, that's right there downtown too. So, you go bar hopping, you might want to chill out for a little bit, just enjoy view of the sound there at the Fort Worth Beach Landing. There's a playground out there too for the kids. It's a great big open area of grass if you just us sit and hang out and check out the moon and the sun and the stars or whatever time of day it is that you're out there. Not everyone waits until nighttime to go bar hopping. But some of the places to go downtown would be Coaster's, The Boardroom, Jake and Henry's is a new one, Fokker's Pub, there's Tapworks, the Salty Duck, KC's Sandbar. And I'm sure there's more that I'm missing out, but that's just to name a few places to go visit downtown. And it's all just one little area. You can definitely just walk around. You might want to get dropped off by Uber or Lyft driver if you plan on heating up all the great spots down there. But again, Fort Walton Beach isn't that big. So, it's great to have a little area where everything is just all in one.
5. VISIT THE AIR FORCE ARMAMENT MUSEUM
Another thing to do in Fort Walton Beach is to visit the Air Force Armament Museum. It's always hard for me to say, Armament Museum. Say that five times really fast. Here, they have a collection of artifacts in memorabilia that's associated with the Air Force Armament from World War 2 or actually World War 1 and 2, the Gulf War, Vietnam War, Korean War. And there's over 29 different artifacts at the museum. Another great thing is that admission is free. So you can go as many times as you want and not have to worry about just coming out of pocket. No big deal, it's free. It's an amazing place to visit. So, I visit a couple times. There's even a wall of fame here. It's where I've seen someone that I even went to high school with. So, that was just very touching just to see all those that are honored there. But again, outside the building, you can't miss it either because you're going to see all these awesome aircraft outside, in the front and the back. I didn't realize during my first visit that they had more aircraft in the back of the building too. So, make sure you check out the entire museum inside and out.
6. RELAX ON THE BEACH
And one more obvious thing that you should do in Fort Walton Beach is to relax on the beach. Whether you live here or if you're visiting, make sure you take that time to enjoy the beautiful white sand and just catch the view of the beautiful emerald green water. There's Okaloosa Island, it's a great place to go to be able to access the beach. Santa Rosa Boulevard has seven public beach access points. They do have the showers and restrooms available too. There's also the Boardwalk again, you can access the beach of the Boardwalk. There's also the Fishing Pier there right next to Boardwalk. If you want to, if you don't want to really hang out on the beach but still be at the beach, just walk at the Pier. You can catch a great view of the sunrise, sunset. You'll be able to see dolphins out there. It's a really great place to go. But yes, make sure you just pack up a lunch or dinner or however long you plan on staying out at the beach. But, however long you go, just make sure you take that time to go visit. Whether if it's by yourself, just to clear your thoughts, or just go with your friends family to hang out, it's a really great place to go. I mean, people think they have to go to Destin or Miramar Beach or 30A to enjoy the beach. But nope. You can definitely do that in Fort Walton Beach as well. So, make sure you check out the beautiful Emerald Coast waters that we have here.
Alright. That's all I have today. I know there's lots more to do in Fort Walton Beach, but I just wanted some of the great things that I've experienced before, and I know you definitely have a good time just based on my own experience.
