Spring Break in Destin Florida 2023
Spring Break in Destin Florida 2023
It's one of the greatest times of the year in Destin, Florida which is spring break. A lot of people are looking for things to do, whether they live here in the area or they're just visiting. So today, I want to give you a list of activities that you'll be able to enjoy, whether you live here or not. So, stay tuned.
Alright. So, spring break in Destin, Florida in 2023. So many things to do.
1. Spend Time on the Beach
You definitely want to spend time on the beach. Whether you feel like you're a beach person or not, I think if you spend a little time out there, there's possible chance that you'll definitely enjoy it. I mean, you can either just enjoy the sugar white sand, the emerald green water, just enjoy the view. Or you can spend time out and catch in the waves, playing in the water or take part in some of the beach activities such as volleyball. But, whatever it is that you like to do when you just sit and chill and hang out, the beach is definitely a great place to go and relax when you just want to listen to music or read a book. Or just lay out and just catch a nice little tan. Definitely visit one of the beautiful beaches out here in the area.
2. Go Fishing
You definitely want to go fishing. I mean, Destin is known as the world's luckiest fishing village. So, there's a great reason for that. So, you definitely want to either just take a charter or maybe you have a buddy in town that's lives here and they have a boat. However, you need to get out there and go fishing, but definitely try it out. You can have a chance to catch some of the most popular fish out there such as the Amberjack, red snapper, and grouper.
3. Take a Dolphin Tour
I've experienced that before too, it was awesome. We took a glass bottom boat, which is a great option if you're doing a dolphin tour. So, you'll be able to go out and have the opportunity to see all the dolphins out in the bay or out in the beach. Some of them are out there waiting on you, waiting to get your attention. Because they like to put on a little show. So, definitely make sure you take the time to go on a dolphin tour.
4. Visit Henderson Beach State Park
This is a great park that's more than six thousand feet of scenic shoreline, nature trails, and picnic areas. So, if you're not staying in an area, that's already, like, walking distance or right on the beach, and you're just looking for a great place to go. Definitely check out the Henderson Beach park.
5. You Want to go Kayaking or Paddle Boarding
That's a lot of fun out on the water. I mean, there's tons of places where you can rent these, lots of places in the Destin and the surrounding areas. So, you can explore the areas waterways, so you can paddle through Destin Harbor or along the Gulf Coast and just enjoy the beautiful scenic views without actually having to get on a boat. Just make sure you catch your balance and then if you haven't done it before, they do have instructor that'll help you get on track and know what you're doing while you're out there on the water.
6. Visit Big Kahuna’s Water & Adventure Park
This is great for those of you that don't really care too much for the beach. Or maybe you just want some water fun but don't necessarily want to go on the beach and want something a little extra with more activity. So Big Kahuna is a fun place to go. Lots of fun for all ages. I mean, there's water slides, lazy rivers, and lots of other attractions as well. Again, that's Big Kahuna’s Water & Adventure Park in Destin.
7. Do a Sunset Cruise
I know I mentioned dolphin cruise, but make sure you do a sunset cruise as well. This is just a great opportunity to catch the beautiful sunset over the water, the Gulf of Mexico. This is a great way to end a day of adventure. I just have that relaxation. I mean, the beautiful views. I mean, if you're not already staying in place where you catch the sunset. Definitely get on a sunset cruise so you can just see what the hype is all about.
8. Visit Crab Island
And number eight, is probably the most popular spot in Destin, that's Crab Island. So, those of you that are not familiar with Crab Island, it is that shallow area in the water. A bridge just north of the Destin Bridge across from the Emerald Grande. So, you'll drive by and you'll see a lot of boats and a lot of people in the water. It's like waist deep or lower. So, it is safe for you to be out there, but you just make sure it would take some of the safety precautions. So, I'll go over that too just so you're aware.
You definitely do not want to swim out to Crab Island. I don't care how strong of a swimmer you are. I mean, even the strongest swimmers would have a hard time fighting the powerful current that's moving. Massive amounts of water into and out of the Gulf of Mexico. So, definitely, don't try and swim out there. Probably not going to end well. Just make sure you get out there by a boat, charter a boat, or whatever watercraft. But definitely do not swim out to Crab Island.
Now, if you plan on partying at Crab Island, make sure you definitely charter a boat. That way you have a captain with you. I mean, that's what they're paid to do is to take you out there, get you out there safely and just hang out while you have a good time. Your job is to make sure you have a good time. So you just make sure that you hire someone that can take you out there. Or, if you have someone in your group that's going to be the designated person to be able to save people and bring you back, that would be another option as well.
You also want to make sure you enter the water feet first. I mean, I already mentioned that the water at Crab Island is pretty shallow. I mean, emergency crews go out to Crab Island every year to help people that dove into the water, head first. So, make sure you don't try that, you don't want to knock yourself out or cause any other injury, and you won't even be able to enjoy the rest of your time out there in Crab Island. With safety, it's very, very important, so make sure you just hop into the water feet first. Or, you can get one of those pontoon boats that have the water slide. Those are pretty cool, just slide right in. I mean, you're still going to end up feet first. So, even if you're getting on the slides, go feet first and not head first. You don't want to do that.
And the last little tip for Crab Island, I mean, you're going to be out there in, you know, under the sun for however many hours you plan on being out there. So, regardless of your skin type, make sure you wear sunscreen. I mean, you can get a pretty cool tan, but you don't want to get third degree burns. I mean, come on now, that's no fun. In the Florida, sunshine is no joke, hence the name's sunshine state. So, make sure you lather up really good and bring enough to be able to reapply while you're out there. Again, just be safe. Have fun out there in Crab Island and whatever it is that you decide to do in Destin. We want to make sure that you all have a great time and be able to spread the words to other people that are not familiar with the Destin area so they can have a great time too.
