I Regret Moving to FLORIDA -- NOT REALLY lol

There are a lot of people out there that regret relocating to a particular State and wish they either never left or chose another area to move into. Just like how I regret moving to, Florida. Well, not really, but let me talk about that for a few.

Alright, reasons why I regret moving to Florida, but not really.

1. IT IS SO HOT

It is so hot in Florida. I mean, this is the Sunshine State, so what do you expect? But then again, I don't like being cold even in the wintertime when the temperature drops in Florida. To me 40s, sometimes even the 30s or lower, I don't like the shivers. I get cold very easily. I don't like to have to find as much sweaters, long sleeve shirts, and coats too, to layer on. And then I end up feeling like I just can barely move because I'm just swallowed up in all this clothing. It just, I don't like to be cold because it makes my brain freeze and I'm not talking about drinking a frosty or anything like that. I'm talking about my frame will literally be frozen to where I can't function, I can't think, I don't want to do anything. I don't want to Move it, even though I know moving will help you warm up a little bit. I'm just, I'm not with that. So, I really can't complain too much about it being so hot, at least it'll make a great beach day or fun day to sit out by the pool. So, I can't really complain about the Sunshine State because I would rather be under the sun than in a snowstorm from up North. So, I'll stop complaining about how hot it is in Florida.

2. SO MANY TOURIST

There are so many tourists in Florida, especially in the Destin area, because of how beautiful it is along the beach on the Emerald Coast. But then again, actually, I like meeting a lot of new people. So, tourists are great to be around. You get to find out about where they're from and how their hometown compares to our area here in Florida. A lot of people will have their pros and cons about what they like about the area and compare it to the pros and cons of the Florida area wherever they're at, especially in the Destin Fort Walton Beach area. I've been here for a long time and I like to hear what other people think about the area. When I was younger, in elementary school, and middle school growing up in the Fort Walton Beach area, I didn't appreciate it as much as I do now as an adult and I interact a lot more with out-of-towners and tourists and realized how great this place actually really is compared to a lot of other places around the country. So, I have learned to really appreciate the tourists and anyone that's coming to visit the area. If they're just coming to visit family or coming to have a good time, I really do love to meet them. So, a lot of tourists really isn't a bad thing.

3. HURRICANES

I regret moving to Florida because of all the Hurricanes that we have to be concerned with. But, come to find out actually that's not a really big concern anymore for me anyway, because I've gotten used to it. I mean, during hurricane season from June through November, we're always going to be a threat or hurricanes are always going to be a threat to the State of Florida. We're always on a projected path. However, it's not like we get hit by every single named storm that forms out there in the Atlantic or the gulf. We just have to keep an eye on it. I know a lot of you that seen the projections, it looks like little spaghetti noodles all over the place and we always happen to fall here on the Gulf Coast. We fall into many of those projected paths. But, it's not always something that we have to prepare for as far as taking a direct hit from the eye of the storm. A lot of people think, oh, it's Florida, they're always going to hit every single time, they're always going to get hit by a hurricane. Not the case. So, after living here for a few years and realize that it's really, hurricane season isn't as scary as it might sound. Just be prepared if you are moving to Florida, be prepared, and know what to do to prepare for a storm. Whether you are going to stay put and ride it out or if you're going to evacuate, make sure you know what routes to take, what to bring with you, and how to prepare your home for the storm even if you're not going to be there. That way, you can still come back to your home intact or well protected from flooding or busted windows. Just everything you need to know, make sure you're prepared for that and you won't have to worry as much and won't be as worrisome as those may feel like they are freaked out by any of the storms. You don't have to be in that same boat as long as you're prepared and know what to expect.

4. TRAFFIC

Not just in the Destin Fort Walton Beach area but a lot of other areas in Florida, the traffic is so bad. That does have a lot to do with all the tourists that come to the area. But, there are a lot of locals obviously too trying to get to where they need to go whether it's to work or taking their kids to and from school or trying to enjoy all the activities that a lot of the tourists like to enjoy. I mean, less locals like to have fun too. But then again, a lot of times I don't mind sitting in traffic as long as I don't have a very, very important place I need to be at a very specific time. I don't mind just sitting there and just rock it out and having some karaoke time to myself, little solo karaoke session to where I don't have to be ashamed of my voice when I'm singing. A lot of us are like that where they only sing in the car, in the shower, so I'm one of those as well. So, I don't mind sitting and listening to loud music, it gives me a chance to get my thoughts together as well. Maybe prepare for what I have going on the rest of the day or the rest of the week or recap on certain things that already passed and what I could have done better or things, what I could have done differently. So, it's time to reflect when you're sitting in a car. I can't really go anywhere because of traffic. So, really, traffic isn't that bad as long as you have the patience for it.

5. SURROUNDED BY WATER

The fifth reason why I regret moving to Florida, but not really is that, the state is surrounded by water even inland, there's a lot of water. But, I do love water views as many others, love it as well. Whether it's the gulf, the sound, the bay, bayou, whatever body of water is around. It's a great view from where you're either staying or a home that you're purchasing on the water. I love to sit out and just freeze over the water, sunset, and sunrise, very beautiful, soothing just relaxing feel that it gives me and a lot of the views. Of course, you're going to want to take a picture of and try to capture it. Of course, a lot of pictures don't do it justice. But, being surrounded by water is not as scary as some people might think because a lot of people are worried about flooding. However, there are a lot of areas that may not necessarily be in a flood zone. It might be a higher land. Lots of homes are built on stilts, so it's up off the ground. You won't have to worry about to your, the inside of your home being intruded by water. A lot of places that you can rent out your jet skis or pontoons, kayaks. If you don't already own it your own, there are lots of places to go to where it won't be overcrowded and everyone's trying to get to the same spot to have fun on the water. So, it's great to have different locations for you to be able to enjoy time out on the water. There's even here in the Destin area. There are cruises you can go on. There's a dolphin cruise, the sunset dolphin cruise. I've been on one of those before, that was a glass-bottom boat. So, that was pretty fun. There's pirate ship you can get on or if you just want to go on a fishing charter, that's a fun trip for you and your family as well. But, just being surrounded by so much water. There are so many things to do or even if you don't like to be out on the water or go out swimming or beyond any, any type of boat whatsoever. If you're on the beach, just being on the sand and just looking out the water, it's very soothing. Just to hear the waves from the beach or even if you're on the bay, just the view alone is what really gets it for me. So, there are a lot of people out there that really don't care if it's the beach or the bay or the bayou, as long as it's just any body of water, it's just very relaxing of the mind to just being surrounded by it. So, being surrounded by water is not an issue for me anymore. Just now that I see that everywhere is so beautiful, that has the water views, whether it's a house or a condo, townhome, whatever it is you have, we have it all here in Florida. So, make sure you check that out too if you are looking to purchase property here in Florida. You don't have to have beachfront unless you just like to be directly on the beach. Make sure you keep your mind open to all those other waterfront properties too so you can enjoy those amazing views.
