From Destin to Crestview FL - Which Area is Right For You?

Are you considering a move to the Destin - Fort Walton Beach area? And you're just trying to figure out which area is best for you and your family. Well, I'm going to briefly talk about each area from Destin, Fort Walton Beach, Navarre, Niceville to Crestview. That way you can decide which area might be more suitable for you and your family. So, stick around.

So, what area is best for you?

DESTIN

Well, let me start with Destin. So of course, Destin is real close to the beautiful beach. So, if you like that beach life, or if you like a lot of activities, shopping, dining, Destin is a great area for you to move to because you're pretty centrally located to all of those things. So, if you like to eat out all the time, there are several restaurants for you to choose from, from obviously seafood restaurants. There's Italian, Mexican, there's a couple of sushi bars around, Thai restaurants. Whatever you can think of, Destin pretty much has it. And, if you like nightlife, there are a couple of bars you can go hang out at. And if you also like shopping, definitely Destin is a place to be. There's the Destin Commons, that's a very nice outdoor mall, and there's a Silver Sands Outlet that's a little further down. And there are also a little other retail shopping areas for you to choose from. And, if you just like to keep it simple like Target or Home Depot, Marshalls, there's even a Walmart. So, if you like the simple things in life, they have that as an option as well in Destin. And of course, if you love going to the beach, you will just be minutes away from getting onto the white sands and the beautiful emerald green waters. If you're living in Destin, whether you live in a condo or a single-family home, either way, you're going to be real close to the beach. So, if you like that beach life, Destin is definitely a great place to go. Now keep in mind that it is a hot tourist spot. So, during the springtime and the summer times, it does get a little congested because everyone wants to come to this area and check it out. So, as long as you don't mind the extra people around during those times a year should be no problem at all.

FORT WALTON BEACH

Now, for Fort Walton Beach, it's pretty much the same because we're right here along the coast. So, you're still close to the beach. It's a little more busier in Fort Walton as far as commuting because it is kind of between military bases and a lot of people cut through Fort Walton Beach to try to get to Destin or Navarre. I grew up in Fort Walton, so I pretty much feel like when I was younger, it was a smaller town, but it's actually a little bigger than I thought it was. Just a lot of different areas. It's grown a lot since the 90s when I was a kid living here. So, there's a lot of shopping opportunities, lots of restaurants. It's still growing, work in progress in some areas. But, if you'd like to just raise your family in Fort Walton Beach, it's such a great place, there are great schools. There are two high schools and there are Middle Schools, Elementary Schools. They're all really pretty close together. So, wherever you live, you're going to be in close proximity to one of the schools to make it easier for your children, if their walkers or bus riders, or if you need to drive them to school, you'll be, either way, you'll probably a close distance away from one of the school's.

NAVARRE

Now, Navarre is also a great place to purchase a home because there's for one, lots of inventory out in Navarre. Lots of new construction homes as well. And, it's also a great place if you were a military family, it's close to Hurlburt Field Air Force Base, and you're also in between Fort Walton Beach and Pensacola. So, if you like to go to both areas, Destin Fort Walton Beach, and you also like to go to Pensacola, Navarre's right there in between. So, you'll have a shorter commute. It's also close to the beach as well. You can have it on out to Navarre Beach. It's also an area where a lot of tourists like to head out to during the spring and summer. So, you'll see a little congestion out on the roads there during those times of the year as well.

NICEVILLE

Niceville is a great area as well for families. There's a lot of retirees out there and a lot of people that like to raise their families there because it's a close little tight-knit community. The schools are great out there as well. Lots of things to do for the kiddos outdoors. There's a skate park, there's a playground for the kids. There's a dog park and there's Turkey Creek Nature Trail if you like to go for a walk through and just enjoy nature all around. So, there's lots of opportunities for you and your family to head out and spend some time outdoors without necessarily being on the beach. It is a little further north from the beach. So, even if you want to stay away from all the craziness that goes on during the Spring and Summer, you're away from all the tourist action. But you're still close to the beach like I said, you're maybe within half an hour. So, if you still like to get to the beach, you wouldn't have that long of a commute even coming from Niceville. There are lots of options to purchase waterfront homes in Niceville as well. There are a lot of communities out there where there's older homes and a lot of the families have been there for many, many years. So, they all know each other. Very friendly with each other, seeing their kids. So, the neighbors kids grow up since they're a little. And again, a lot of military families, you know, they might travel the world but end up coming back to the Niceville area because maybe they were previously station there in the past and they just really enjoyed the area and decided to retire there because it's a really nice community out there in Niceville.

CRESTVIEW

Crestview, it's a little further up north away from the beach. But still not that of a drive if you still want to stay close to the beach. It's maybe around 45 minutes, give or take, and depending on the time of day. Now, Crestview as far as homes, you do get more bang for your buck. So, housing is a little bit lower in cost out in Crestview. It's a great place for you to purchase a home if you want more land, more property. There's a lot of vacant lots still as well if you want to just purchase a home and build on it. There's new construction homes on Crestview as well. So, it's a growing community out there. It's also close to Interstate 10. So, if you're on the go a lot, or if you like to commute to Pensacola or Mobile, or if you want it the other way and head out to Tallahassee or Jacksonville. Or, just need to just hop on the interstate to wherever you need to go, Crestview is right there. It does get a little congested in that area too because it is right off the interstate like I said. So, a lot of people are coming and going. A lot of restaurants in the center part of town for a lot of people to just stop and grab something to eat and head back on the road. But, if you are living there, then that's still great because you want to go grab something to eat, you're very close to whatever your taste buds are desiring. Lots of great communities out there as well, lots of different types of subdivisions, you know. You have your ones, where you have your neighbors pretty close together if you don't mind that. And, there's also areas where homes are further apart because you do have more land. There's not a lot of shopping opportunities out there. Not like how you would find in Destin or the Fort Walton Beach area. There are some retail stores out there if you need something quick and simple. But, if you do need to do some major shopping and there's like a lot of particular things that you're looking for, then you would probably have to head out to Pensacola or to Destin to find what you're looking for. And now, with Crestview being further away from the beach, a lot of people say, the residents in Crestview say, it's a little bit more of a country living type of style. So, if you don't mind that type of living, if that's what you're looking for, if you like to be away from all the chaos of the tourist season, or if you don't care to go to the beach and you really just want, you're worried about your property and then type a house in the size of a house that she get in the money that you're spending on it, Crestview is definitely a great option because like I said, you do get more bang for your buck for housing out there in that area.
