How Safe is Navarre FL
How Safe is Navarre FL
Are you considering moving to Navarre, Florida, and safety is one of your primary concerns? Well, I'm going to talk a little bit about the safety concerns that you may have about Navarre, Florida. I can't get into too many details, but at least I will be able to hopefully help you figure out if the area is safe enough for you and your family.
So, how safe is Navarre, Florida? Well as a realtor, unfortunately, I'm not able to discuss the actual crime statistics. So, I will still do my best in talking about the area and hopefully, you'll get a better idea whether or not Navarre is safe enough for you and your family. I will say that Navarre is safer than more than half of the cities in the United States, so that's a plus. When we want to talk about how safe an area is, we don't only just look at how safe you are or your family is. We talk about your property as well.
So, when we talk about crime, there are violent crimes and there's property crimes.
VIOLENT CRIMES
Violent crimes, some examples would be assault, robbery, endangerment, harassment. Maybe there are some neighbors that can't seem to get along and they just start doing things to each other and their properties or saying certain things to each other every time they see one another outside. That could possibly lead up to some harassment charges. Endangerment, maybe there are some people that get sick and tired of hearing their children whine or scream and they just lock them outside the house. Definitely be considered endangerment by leaving your child out in the elements, depending on the weather, or just really leaving them out for if you're they're out front. There's just out there for someone to come snatch them up. So, don't want to do that, but that's just, unfortunately, there might be some people out there that do. It's part of a violent crime if you don't keep your kids safe and your pets as well, you don't want to endanger your pets.
PROPERTY CRIME
Um, as far as property crime, you are thinking about property damage, burglary, theft from inside your vehicle. So, if you do have to leave your vehicle parked outside, make sure your doors are locked. But, maybe, if your door is malfunctioning and you can't lock your doors for whatever reason, just make sure you remember to take out all your valuables if you do need to leave your car out unattended for a certain amount of time. Property damage, there might be, I've seen actually around the corner where I live. I've seen some damaged mailboxes around some curves. So, there are some people that would take those curves a little too quickly and end up hitting somebody's mailbox, they'll be the brick mailboxes too. So, they'll just completely just shatter and breaking. You have to go at a great amount of speed to knock down somebody's brick mailbox. But, that's still considered property damage or maybe a neighbor accidentally ran into another neighbor's home. Maybe they hit the gas or speed out across the yard and hit somebody's house, that's considered property damage. Of course, that's an accident, but sometimes people might do things intentionally such as what I discussed a second ago about harassment. There could be neighbors that will purposely damage another neighbor's property, but that's not likely to happen so much in Navarre from what I understand. So, hopefully, you're just not one of those ones too that would like to come in and start trouble in the neighborhood. So, just try to keep the crime down here in Navarre if you do relocate here.
FLOODING
Another concern that people have about the Navarre area is flooding. Most of Navarre actually is not in a flood zone. The main areas of concern are south of Highway 98 and Navarre Beach. Of course, you're on a little island there, it's beautiful beaches and all. But, it can be quite the pain during the hurricane seasons because you're right there on the water. You're likely to have some flooding going on south of 98. Of course, you're closer to the water, you're on the sound. Usually just when hurricanes come through, you don't have to worry about, you know, a couple days rain, you're not going to have an issue. But, it's usually the storms that bring in some heavy rain or just rain that storms that are slow-moving and drop a lot of rain like hurricane Sally did last year. A slow-moving storm just dropped a lot of rain on the area. So, again Highway 98, the south of it is a flood concern in the Navarre Beach area. But up north of 98, you don't have too much of a concern. That's where most of the residential area is in the Navarre anyway. So, just make sure you check into that when you do see a property that you like. And you can always ask your realtor or look in the public property appraiser site to see if it actually is in a flood zone.
TRAFFIC ACCIDENTS
Another big safety concern is traffic accidents. A lot of people wondering, are there a lot of traffic accidents here in Navarre, Florida? Well, yes, it's very common, but it's common anywhere where there's a lot of traffic. So, You have a higher risk once there are more people taking the same route daily. Highway 98 is the main route through Navarre. So, there's a lot of people taking that route to and from work or get into the beach or you might try to get to Pensacola or trying to get to Destin. So, you have a lot of people taking that same road around the same time. You're more likely exposed to traffic accidents. A lot of distractions can cause those accidents such as texting while driving or maybe looking off to a really cool car that's driving next to you. Or, you're just looking over the, you can see Navarre Beach or look at the sound, that's very beautiful. But try not to do that so much while you're driving and cause an accident. I've seen people cut others off on the road. So when you're pulling out onto Highway 98, just make sure you're clear to do so, or if you do pull out, just don't pull out and just drive completely slow because the person that's coming behind you may not realize that you're going extra slow and then might not break-in time, and you don't want to end up getting rear-ended.
TRAFFIC
Another issue would be people being impatient. So, traffic I mean, you just really have to deal with it if you're in it. But, unfortunately, there are people out there that don't have the patience to deal with traffic and have a little road rage and swing in and out of traffic, having other people off. They might even just blow their top and just intentionally hit another vehicle. So again, it's traffic. It's going to be like that anywhere where there's a lot of congestion. So, traffic accidents are likely to happen. The more cars are on the road at the same time. But as long as everyone just pays attention and keeps their cool, it wouldn't be as big of an issue.
So, to sum it all up, Navarre is just going to have the same type of safety concerns as any other city. It's just that the percentage is going to be lower because Navarre is a smaller city, much smaller than New York City or Los Angeles, or Miami. So, again traffic is going to be an issue, but that just really depends on how much you're out in traffic to where you're more likely to be in one or to witness one. You're located in Florida. You're right on the beach and you're near the sound of Navarre. So, if you have waterfront property, you're probably going to be more prone to some flooding issues. And, if you are in a neighborhood where there are neighbors you just can't get along with, then you might have some issues with some harassment charges or some property damage. It can happen anywhere not just in Navarre.
So, I hope you're able to understand that and still just agree with me and just decide that Navarre is still a great place for you to relocate to.
